Building Surveyor

Upper Lachlan Shire Council are seeking a Building Surveyor.

Reporting to the Senior Environmental Building Surveyor, this position is primarily responsible undertaking building development control functions including assessment, inspection, determination, regulation of building development and fire safety certification services to ensure effective management of the built and natural environments.

  • 35 Hour work week
  • 9 day fortnight with RDO for work-life balance
  • Corporate uniform
  • Hourly rate ranges from $ 53.84 - $60.92 plus superannuation (Grade 16 in accordance with Council's Salary System and the Local Government State Award)

The successful candidate

To be successful in this role, you'll need to possess the following capabilities and knowledge:

  • Degree in building surveying or a related discipline with contemporary experience in a similar role; or substantial contemporary experience in a similar role, coupled with ongoing professional development to support contemporary knowledge.
  • Hold or be eligible to hold a Level A3 or higher certification under the NSW Building Professional Board accreditation scheme.
  • Contemporary knowledge and demonstrated understanding and application of Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and Regulations, Local Government Act and National Construction Code (NCC) and appropriate standards.
  • Contemporary experience in carrying out critical stage inspections for all classes of buildings.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, including dispute resolution and negotiation, research and information analysis, and report writing to facilitate planning, decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence.
