About Us

Based in the Southern Tablelands of NSW, Upper Lachlan Shire Council is renowned for its agricultural and fine wine industries, history, and picturesque countryside. We are located just one hour from Canberra and are enthusiastic about the community we serve.

The Role

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, you will focus on the delivery and monitoring of governance, procurement, records and risk activities across all service areas to assist the organisation to meet its objectives and ensure the successful delivery of corporate governance and records management strategies and systems.

The successful applicant will be able to enthusiastically embrace change and lead others to do the same by applying skills that inspire and foster a team environment using an innovative, consultative, and flexible approach through highly developed communication and interpersonal skills

Drawing upon your experience in continuous improvement, and your tertiary qualifications in Business Management, Governance, Law or equivalent, the key accountabilities of the role are:

  • Develop, implement and manage corporate governance including policy development and review;
  • Manage all applications for access to information through Government Information (Public Access) Act legislation and undertake the role as Council's Public Officer;
  • Manage Council's insurance and legal services portfolio;
  • Manage, support, develop and guide the work and performance of staff reporting directly to this role and through them, the staff of the business unit;
  • Experience in local government desirable.
