Are you passionate about working outdoors and contributing to the care and maintenance of local parks, gardens, and facilities?

Upper Lachlan Shire Council is looking for a dedicated Senior Parks and Gardens Officer to be a vital part of our Environment and Planning Group. In this hands-on role, you'll play a key role in supervising the day-to-day work of the Parks and Gardens team and support team members to undertake their work efficiently, effectively and safely.

What You'll Do:

  • Direct and supervise the day-to-day activities of the Parks & Gardens team to ensure organisational, management and legislative requirements are met.
  • Undertake maintenance and improvement works to streetscapes, sport and recreation grounds, reserves, cemeteries, parks and gardens, public amenities cleaning and the like according to approved work plans and schedules.
  • Conduct the cleaning and maintenance of public amenities located within Council's parks, reserves and the like
  • Coordinating resources (people, financial) in accordance with program and projects budget.
  • Uphold Council's values of sustainability, integrity, respect, and professionalism in all tasks.
  • Provide exceptional service to our community, ensuring public spaces remain clean, safe, and welcoming.

What You'll Bring:

  • Obtain a Certificate III in horticulture, parks and gardens or a related discipline with contemporary experience in a similar role; or substantial contemporary experience in a similar role, coupled with ongoing professional development to support contemporary knowledge.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organise work for a team, meet deadlines and manage competing work demands.
  • Proven track record leading and supporting staff to achieve work targets and objectives effectively and efficiently.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills, including influencing and negotiation; and research and information analysis to facilitate understanding and/or decision-making.
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence.
  • Proven ability to operate tools such as mowers, chainsaws, and hand tools.
  • Strong teamwork skills and commitment to safety and environmental standards.

What's on Offer

Salary range per annum from Grade 11 Min $1451.27 - Grade 11 Max $1641.95 per week (gross) plus super, depending on skills, experience and qualifications. 9 day fortnight with RDO.
